Zaatari refugee camp, Jordan (2013)
This summer, Michael Friberg and I went to Jordan to photograph and record the narratives of some of the people impacted by the Syrian civil war. The project has run a few places already, but now I am excited to announce “By the Olive Trees”, a 64-page color newsprint publication that we will be publishing this fall.
This publication, which contains the stories of well over a dozen refugees and their families, is an experiment in distribution. We are going to be printing as many as possible and distributing them as widely as we can. Forfree.
Up to now, this project has been completely self-funded, with generous film support from Kodak. But for this next phase, we are looking to get as many people involved as possible. To that end, we have started a Kickstarter campaign to support the printing and distribution costs of the publication.
